Photographer’s Note

Classic view of Bergen from Fløyen hill. After 3 days of non-stop rain and drizzle, the skies finally brightened that day, this was taken during the first clearings after the storm, the weather was great for the rest of that trip though. This is looking southwest, actually the direction of storms arriving, but the storm was behind me at that point. About the viewpoint:

If you're looking for one of the best view over the city you should include a trip on famous Funicular. It will take you from the city center to the top of the Mount Floyen. Then you'll be 320 meters above sea level (1050 ft). Check out the magnificent views over the surroundings islands. Numerous paths offer easy walks through beautiful woodland terrain with lakes and mountains. During the summer the restaurant on top of Mount Floyen is open daily. The kiosk and souvenir shop is open all year. The Funicular Lower Station is situated 150 meters from the Fish Market.

Situated in the center of Bergen, walking distance from the Fish Market. Departures on the hour and every half hour from early morning to 11 PM, from May to August till Midnight. Extra departures when necessary. This funicular railway is also known as 'Floibanen' and 'Fløibanen' and 'Fløybanen'.

This is just an amazing view. Very beautiful colours and excellent contrast and sharpness. This can be a classic view of this town, but the presence of the clouds made it very special.

this is a classic view of Bergen, but a great one.

Another great shot from your seemingly inexhaustible portfolio. Again your scan is superb. The colours and clarity are very good, from an excellent POV. I like the fact that the sky is not oversaturated, and all the colours are vivid but real with the possible exception of a slice of foreground. A very satisfying and effective shot.

I know this view too and enjoyed the funicular ride up. At least you got a break from the rain (not often happens in Bergen). Excellent clarity of the buildings and contrasts. I like the low down clouds too.
