Photographer’s Note

Bled Castle probably first existed as a tower protected by a few walls around year 1000. Then over the years fortifications and elements were added in several stages and styles up to Baroque, but the predominent one is still a massive medieval appearance. It is now used for exhibitions.

The castle site is splendid, overlooking the beautiful lake Bled and surrounding mountains from its dominating position on top of a steep cliff. This view shows it from the bottom and in the morning.

The water really makes this shot I think...the reflections and the texture on the surface set up the composition nicely. I like the row of boats on the RHS as they draw the eye into the background towards the subject of the shot. It looks like a quiet and tranquil place! Lovely.

Le château est bien placé mais tu pouvais, amha, mettre moins de ciel.

Excellent view from the bottom to show how incredibly high is this castle situated. I think "Eagle's Nest" is a very popular and proper name for such located fortress.

LA forteresse est impressionnante et semble vraiment imprenable(un joli bled),son reflet est superbe bien contrasté(un scan top qualité),la rangé de barque colorées valent à elle toute seule une photo(que tu as peu-etre parmis les terraoctets de photos en stock)bonne soirée,

Jean Yves, great picture, you dominated the sky colors and the castle looks very nice with that pretty architecture, i like it.
I like too, the water reflections and the birds swimming, the background is good.
The magnific point of view, helps too much to the picture and i like that.

Hi Jean-Yves. My eye is really drawn to the tree right above the boats. It reminds me of a weeping willow but I don't think it is. The wavy reflections are a nice tease. I bet this shot would be even nicer with a polarizer. Nice shot Jean-Yves!
