Photographer’s Note

So here is Yet Another Hong Kong Skyline At Night shot. I know. You've seen it hundreds of times before. Hopefully you like my take on it.

It was a handheld shot taken from the Avenue of the Stars looking towards Hong Kong Island. There was unfortunately nowhere for me to balance the camera.

Every night there is a laser light show, this was taken during the show.

Any comments welcomed. I actually waited for a boat to get in the shot, thinking it would make it more interesting, but I regret that now. It would have been cleaner without. I thought about a tighter rectangular crop, but I like the skyline and the reflection of the lights. What do you think?

reflections in water are perfect, cool shapes and colors... the crop is ok in my opinion, it shows everything i like to see on pictures like this :)

Handheld! Wow. I wish I could get rid of my shake;-)

Excellent colours and sharpness. The exposure is also spot on. Well done.

Bonjour Ian,
j'aime beaucoup les vues nocturnes, et personnellement, je ne m'y suis pas encore risqué mais je sens que cà va venir.
Ici, excellentes couleurs surtout dans les reflets, une exposition bien dosée qui évite presque les surexpositions.
Excellent cadrage.

Without the boat, the shot may have been cleaner, but it doesn't really take away much as is. Very nice job for a handheld at 1/6. To add to the skyline element, you might crop some of the top and bottom of the image to make it more panoramic-looking.

Handheld with 1/6 sec...That is a dream for me....
The shot is excellent & well Balanced...

I bet you did not have your evening drink before the shot ;)

Very nice, the enhanced contrast does it for me... I would like to see more water and less of the sky above... The reflection from the water would be more interesting than the smoggy sky...
