Photographer’s Note

Located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island between Tofino to the North and Ucluelet to the South, lies "Long Beach". Together with the "Broken Group Islands" & the "West Coast Trail", the three geographically seperate areas make up the "Pacific Rim National Park".

Long Beach is best known for its incredible beaches & rugged headlands. A favorite for those wanting to hike the sandy trails, beachcomb, enjoy the pounding surf, the dense coastal rainforest or view an impressive array of bird & wildlife. Each spring over 20,000 grey whales migrate through the park waters. For those looking for a "whale-of-a-time", Tofino has a variety of Whale watching eco-companies that will show you a memorable time!

This photo was taken during low tide, looking out toward the ocean (to the left of the gren tree).

For those wondering how I achieved the effect;

I started by rotating the image to correct the horizon, and cropping. Secondly I went to saturation, and desaturated all the colors except for yellow and green. I next adjusted the levels to get the desired effect. Lastly I added a border. It's an older shot, taken on my Canon Powershot S50.

I hope you like it,
- Dan
