Photographer’s Note
I took this picture of a Maasai warrior in Tanzania near the Serengeti. He was leaning against a hut, silently watching the traditional Maasai jumping dance ceremony. The Maasai have been quite successful at preserving their culture despite globalisation. One can't help but wonder what he is thinking as he watches an ancient ritual performed by his peers.

Welcome to TE Shannon,
Great composition, the colors are strong and the blurred background force the eye to keep looking at the face.

Salut Shannon,
Bravo,
Yves

Hi! Shannon,
First, let me thank you for your critique of my last post.
This is a great image/first post. I'm sure you will have lots of wonderfull images to post over the comming months/years.
The colour is so strong and the lighting is excelent. It is hard to see how you avoided the strong sunlight. I guess there was some diffuse reflector behind the camera.
Anyway, very well done and keep sharing these great images of yours. Welcome to this great site!
Mike.

Welcome to TE Shannon and you have an excellent introduction shot here. This brave warrior has a very mysterious look in his eyes and one would wonder indeed how he looks at things. I admire that you have been able to capture such a close portrait. Well done!
I see that you are explaining about colours as well. There is also another simple reason why the Masai wear red clothes and that is to scare the lions away.

Excellent colors. Good expression. If tis is a larger picture, I am sure I will drwan more into his eyes. My only nit-pick is that it is too centered. But that's just muy opinion.

A nice image Shannon that leaps out and attracts attention - really good colour, light and contrast - it is strongenough for the centered composition to work but listen to everything manny says - in fact jsut look at what he does with portraiture.
best wishes Kev

I especially like your frame here.
It gives a lot of strength to your compo.
The red is very strong too.
And this glance...

Amazing portrait! The texture of the skin, hair, beads and the fabric makes me to believe I can touch the face! I like particularly the reddish reflections from the dress on his cheeks.
Cheers!

This is an excellent portrait.
I love the strong colour and tightish crop.
As you say it would be interesting to know what he is thinking.

Hi Shannon,
This is the first time I've seen your album but what an album it is! This, your first photo, is absolutely stunning! The colours are fantastic and it's beautifully composed. This is the type of image I'd expect to see in a high quality magazine.
Congratulations on a fantastic job!
Hugs,
Tony
