Photographer’s Note

This is the harbour of Antalya in Turkey. In ancient times the city was known as Attaleia. Its name comes from its founder King Attalos II of the Hellenistic Kingdom of Pergamon. Hellenistic and Roman ages passed here in tranquillity with the city growing due to sea trade coming into this harbour. In medieval ages this reason made the city target to armies. The city changed hands between Byzantines, Seljuki Turks, Crusaders, Karamanids etc. and eventually into the Ottoman Empire.
