Photographer’s Note

Taken after work as we were about to leave the aircraft after a long day. Everyone was tired as the weather had been bad with bumpy conditions. We also had a lightning strike on departure from Tokyo which is why I had my camera out to take a shot of the wing.

Could be nice if the light was so harsh (a direct flash), and if it was more focused. A note explaining how you caught these two charming ladies in a jet engine intake, would help.

I also think this is a great photo. You wont see anything like this on TE!

I've done a workshop to try and adjust the direct light. Either I can email it to you, or could you change this photo to allow workshops?

Even with faults (enumerated by avigur), it is still a very unusual and charming picture - a very nice addition to TE! How on TrekEarth did you manage to coax them to sit on the plane engine?!!

It's too much! I really have been meaning to visit Japan for a long time. Now I'll have to go. I notice the engine cowling is not quite round... is this a 737?

Nice image. Yeah, lighting conditions are either our enemy or our friend when it comes to photography. Pamela's workshop helped a lot.

I like the shot a great deal. It's the kind of thing you might have seen in Life Magazine in the early days of jet aviation.

A Question: Maybe I just haven't been paying attention, but I thought jet engines were perfectly round. The turbine blades in the center seem to be, but the housing looks more oval. Is that barrel distortion from the camera lens, or is the engine shaped that way?

This is avery alternative shot, though I work on this engine I've never actually taken my time to get a shot like this.

Ok:
Idea: GOOD!
Composition: not the best, too bad the edges of the intake nacelle had to be cut.
Nice effect with the flash, creates a fitting "frame" for the two stewardesses.
Slightly overexposed colours here and there but it works fine.

Hi Peter, I like this composition with the symmetry and the framing created by the engine. Too bad about the lighting, but sometimes we just have to use a flash and it's better to use the flash than miss the shot. :)

This picture caught my eye, Peter, because first thing I was wondering: "were do they sit" and "is it really a turbine???" :) And it turned out that yes! Very interesting, as all your photos. I can appreciate this, because I am a "traveller" and I love taking pictures from above too. I even opened theme "clouds". Ah, this theme is on TrekNature...

Hi.. I like this one pretty much.. Need to admit little pity the flash light was direct. One other thing I would try to capture the whole engine.. but still very interesting and unsual one.. Thanks for sharing..

I really don't see what does this picture have to do with this site. I thought this kind of images are very popular on Hi5, but I can see 33 points for an overexposed picture and with dull colours. The members of this web site are mostly men, all right!
