Photographer’s Note
A view over the Bamiyan Valley. The rock face opposite clearly shows the niches where the famous Buddhas stood until their destruction in 2001. For more information about the Buddhas please see yesterday's post Where Buddha Once Stood.
This panorama was created by cropping a wide angled shot at top and bottom. It was not made by stitching.

Wow Jonathan. The view here is incredible. I like the fact that you can look at so much in the picture, from the foreground fields and houses, to the cliffs, to the mountains in the background. I guess the only improvement I could see would be to get the shot at the right time of day to have some light on the cliff faces on the left of the photo.

Incredible detail! I like this one even more than your previous one, with the wide view showing so much of the valley. The photo is so clear too, which gives this the feel of actually being there. Well done!

This place is wonderful (thanks for the panoramic composition). I like the contrasts between the green fields and the brown moutains. Very impressive !

Hi Jonathan
A very nice and detailed panorama.
Sad to think that they choose to destroy these amazing buddhas, it must have been an amazing view when they were there.

terrific capture of the scenery! a very good job - you are letting us see the two Buddas' voids at the same time, besides the liting and the colors are very mild, even gentle.
