Photographer’s Note
Vathi, one of the 12 villages on Sifnos, is on the SW part of the island.
Vathi, meaning deep, takes its name from the depth of the sea in the bay/harbor, as well as from the fact that the harbor here is situated at the low end of the surrounding area. A quiet and picturesque village, accessible till a few years ago only by boat or a trail, now also by land through the newly built road, The old trail as well as the new two-lane “highway” reaches Vathi through Katavati
On the right end of Vathi's beach, the shape of the horseshoe, the church of Taxiarchis (.of Archangel ?) with the originality of double dome is built litteraly on the sea.
Vathi has rooms for rent, restaurants, and grocery shops. In the old days, Vathi was famous for its exceptionally well-made ceramic pots, which were exported to the nearby Cycladian islands, but also as far as Crete, Cyprus and Alexandria. This old tradition of pottery making is still alive in Vathi. Make sure that you will visit the pottery workshop and gallery.

Hi Janos
Very nice and typical shot from the greek islands. The white chappels are the trademark, under this fine blue sky. Excellent framing, somewhat tight but nice.

Hello old friend, nice to "meet" you again..
Yes, it is a beautiful lesson of geometry, and more than that - a great lesson taht shows how white color can vary in hundreds of hues. Excellnet work of light and shadow.

Hi Janos,
I find the blue of the sky a bit pale probably due to the strong greek sun, but it allows for good contrasts, the whites and structures details are very nice, it's a good crop of this nice architecture detail.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

This picture is very simple Janos, but in the same time, it's a pure delight to see. Your framing is perfect! Very good work.

hi janos
i wondered about its simplicity... this is a new style to me... i haven't seen any photo as simple as this much... it's smothness, tones etc are well aligned with it's spiritual beauty...

A lovely shot of these domes, Janos. There's only blue sky and white walls here, yet you have used the light to capture so many different shades. A pleasing and subtle alternative to the blue domes so famous in the Greek islands.

Szervusz János,
Igazán gyönyörű ez a kép a kupolákon játszó fénnyel, csak azon gondolkodtam, nem lenne-e egy kicsit kiegyensúlyozottabb, ha kevesebb lenne rajta az ég. Próbáltál vágni valamennyit a tetejéből? Végül is a fő téma itt nem az ég, hanem az épület. De azért így is nagyon tetszik!
Üdvözlettel:

Hello Janos,
This is so typical of greek architecture! I like your coposition with the two domes and the two crosses. The POV is very good. I just regret that the sky is a bit pale.
Have a nice day.

Hello Janos,
Great lesson of geometry :-)
The only problem I see that sharpness of this photo is not good enough to show nice texture of the walls. I have made a workshop, where your photo is sharpened a lot (maybe too much).

Lovely photo with gentle colours and different tones between white and grey/blue. Excellent simple composition, the simplicity gives this photo it's strength. Right lines and subtle curves and two crosses, well balanced. Thanks for sharing. Will see this scene in a few days I hope, I'm going to Sifnos in 4 days :-)
Regards,
Emiel.
