Photographer’s Note

Set in 850 acres of glorious parklands, Margam Country Park offers beauty, history, wildlife and a wide range of facilities to make it one of the best family days out in Wales. It has surprises around every corner, from the magnificent 18th Century Orangery, an impressive Tudor-Gothic style Victorian Mansion House and a 12th Century Chapter House, to the unique Fuschia Collection and the newly restored historic gardens around the Castle, the Monastic Gardens and Orangery Terrace.

My brief note cant possibly explain the fascinating history of this place. Margam Abbey used to be regarded as one of the most important places in Wales. Its now mostly ruins since the dissolution of the monasteries between 1536 and 1540.

There are frequent spook groups who like to hold sleep overs at Margam Park, looking for ghoulish activity.
I get the creeps walking around here in the day, but I like to snatch a photo when I`m passing.

Hi Jeff, not the kindest places to spend the night i must say... if i heard a single noise i would scared to deat eheheh but a wonderfull photo, the wet look and the light makes the place even more mysterious.. well done.

The cloudy sky, the half hidden castle behind the trees and the composition as a whole succeeded perfectly to create the mysterious atmosphere that you describe here. The green grass gives a great contrast to the grey surrounding. Well done!

Wow, great dramatic sky and very sharp photo. It has lot of elements that are in harmony with the position and with the colours.

this is an excellent, well composed picture filled with atmosphere. Cloudy sky, and a few leafless tree contribute to somehow ghostly feeling of the sceene.

Pituresque photograph of a nice place to take a walk. The picture is really beautiful with the little bridge on the foreground en the mysterious castel in the background. Very good composition with good sharpness and a nice cloudy sky.

Hi Jeff, what a beautiful composition with very nice light and superb colours. I like the spookylike atmosphere rendered by the whole scenery, the old house, the trees and the dramatic sky. Well captured!

Happy Halloween, two days late :). This is the ultimate creepy place. Well, I'm sure its beautiful in the daylight; I'm just afraid of the dark. The green grass color is very pretty- nice work!
