Photographer’s Note

2006 is here! This is celebrated with a lot of festive drinking - mostly cheep champagne - and fireworks around midnight. In Sweden as everywhere else.

Now drinking and fireworks do not mix well. Statistically one person will die tonight and 300 will be injured by fireworks. Plus around 60 additional fires - and this only in Sweden.

This image is not shot at midnight, as you might think. Some neighbors of mine finally found their fireworks at 2 a.m. and decided to burn it off from the balcony. From what I saw, they kept a semi-low security level.

Luckily no one seemed to be seriously injured during the more than half-hour bombardment, no property was damaged, except perhaps(?) for the balcony. And most people were still wide awake anyway.

Some were even shooting photos at this hour!

Image cropped, adjusted levels and curves, increased saturation +15 and reduced in red -10, ran NeatImage at 60%, resized for TE, USM sharpening (as taught by Luko), framed and saved for Web. Shutter speed was 2.5 seconds.

Happy New TE Year to Adam and all!!
