Photographer’s Note
I just noticed that a fever called bokeh fever is sweeping TE... I am no exception apparently..
This was taken at the covered market by the meenakshi temple. This elderly woman spent her time wandering around the market.. From what I understood this must be her daily routine as everybody seem to know her
p.s. just to add.. Stainless still is what most of the cooking and dining utensils in India are made of.. I believe mainly because it is cheaper and solid.. Of course there is always sliver for the rich.. :-)

i love low light takes like this.
good texture, oily glaze, reflecting metal, well composed with the red cloth. the intense but calm look is well captured.

interesting portrait, maybe the bokeh is a bit too shiny and distracts you from the lady. I like the woman's expression and the sharpness and natural colors on her face.

Bonjour Bala
Un tout petit peu sombre mais tellement expressif. J'aime beaucoup le cadrage; le relief et les couleurs.
Bravo

Hello Bala, excellent portrait with great detail in her face (like how she is not looking directly into your lens too). Giving equal spacing to her face as well as to the stainless steel background is a perfect touch.

Hello Bala,
In fact I have seen lot of village people call the utensils of "Stainless steel" as "Silver". Very difficult job here with the sharpness in 1/8 sec, but this is well executed. My only concern is the blue tone on her face, any strange light above her?

Hi Bala. I remember this photo, I think I commented about it on your Pbase site. well, the tones are excellent, so deep and rich. the bokeh is great. I would have thought it was with the 50mm. I also like her steel blue hair. excellent work.

Salut bala.
Un portrait très fort avec ce cadrage intéressant et ce regard fixant.
J'aime assez ce côté sombre, ca lui donne une atmosphère spéciale.
Je sais pas quoi te dire de plus....moi j'aime !

Salut Bala.
Frankly I feel bad about starting some kind of a fashion with titles that contain the word "bokeh" in it...:o)
But I like this picture very much. The dark yet incredibly detailed and once beautiful face of this woman with the...uh...yes, bokeh in the background all silevery against her bronzed skin.
Nice!

very nice contrast choice Bala, I like how you managed to get the same shining effect on her face than on the steel ustensils. She might be a steel and stainless woman too...
This is funny, at first sight I thought they were prayer wheels, but she also may be the kitchen ustensils priestress!

A strong portrait, Bala. Her personality projects well through your lens, bokeh fever notwithstanding. Good color management.

Stainless steel is much healthier for cooking than alumin(i)um.
The elderly lady has worked hard in her life. Her earrings are beautiful!

Yes, stainless steel is apparently the safest material to cook with...
non-stick Teflon (very common in the west, now in India too!) has been under much scrutiny over the years...
"According to a study by the advocacy group, non-stick pots and pans could reach 700 degrees Fahrenheit (370 C) in 3-5 minutes, releasing 15 harmful gases and chemicals, including two carcinogens, two global pollutants, and MFA, a chemical lethal to humans at low doses. Non-stick coatings break down to a chemical warfare agent known as PFIB, and a chemical analog of the WWII nerve gas, phosgene." just a humble research finding, though the debate continues ;)
what the fudge is bokeh anyway?
