Allegro

A photo from the archives today, that I also want to use as an advertisement for Danish film. :-)

But first about the picture itself. If you think you've seen this part of Copenhagen before, that's possible, I uploaded this picture for over a year ago.

The part at the left hand side of the picture is called Gammel Strand (Old Beach). Here was in old days a fish market located.
The tower is part of the Nikolaj Kirke (Nicholas Church), that has been a museum since 1917.
The right part is the isle Slotsholmen. On this island the Danish Parliament Christiansborg Slot is located, as well as some other gouvernmental buildings. The yellow building you can see is Thorvaldsens Museum, where you can see the sculptures of the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen (1770-1844), who made about 550 sculptures. In 1848, four years after Thorvaldsen's death the museum opened. The cupola behind the museum is part of Christiansborg Slotskirke (Christianborg Castle Church), built between 1810-26.

But why is this picture called "Allegro"? Well, I'll tell you, in this area in Copenhagen the Danish movie Allegro is situated. Allegro is a wonderful movie, directed by Christopher Boe, a young director who got his break-through with Reconstruction in 2003. Actors in the movie are among others Ulrich Thomsen and Henning Moritzen (both well-known for their roles in the prize-winning Dogme-movie Festen, The Celebration, 1998).
The area can you see here is in Allegro the mysterious area called Zonen (The Zone).
Allegro is a movie you really should see if you get the chance!

A review in Danish, written by yours truly, can be read here.

Taken in August, cropped and uploaded today. :-)
Hope you like it!
