Photographer’s Note
The Great Wildebeest Migration is one of the greatest wildlife spectacles. It involves close to one and half million wildebeest and their migration partners, zebra and gazelles followed by their predators. The migration covers a distance of 1000 km annually, from Serengeti national Park in northern Tanzania to Masai Mara game Reserve in southern Kenya.
In March and April, there is plenty of grass in southern Serengeti. By the end of May, which is the mating season for the wildebeest, dry season creeps in and the grass dries. The migration moves to western Serengeti in search of green pastures. By July, the migration crosses Mara River to the fresh sweet grass in Mara Reserve. In October, the migration returns to Serengeti.

Hi Tina,
Great picture! I was fascinated by this migration when I went to Tanzania years ago. It was amazing to see such a spectacle. Thousands of wildebeest, mixed with zebras, going all in the same direction. With the same goal! So impressive.
I like the way you composed the picture, the wildebeest in line, crossing the river.

nice shot, has good earthy tones. perhaps not cutting off the head in the bottom left and giving more space on the right would make the compo a bit cleaner.

Tina,
I'm jealous! I've always wanted to see this in person... You have taken a very good photograph as it is focused, balanced, and have captured both, the action, and the reaction to what appears to be the crocodile.
Excellent image of what African Wildlife is all about.

very impressive shot Tina, it reminds me of some great images from NG classics ;). I like it for its' dynamism, something unfortunatelly not always present in amateur safari photos. Your is great.

Seen so many times these crossings on tv....specially where the crocs come in. Did you have seen such drama?
This picture is very good, wish i would have such one.
Great work..!!!

Bonjour Tina,
je vois que vous êtes plutôt dans l'image de portrait mais celle-ci est aussi très intense. La migration de ses animaux est sûrement impressionnante à voir. Très bon cadrage.
