Photographer’s Note

I was going through all my older photographs and got to Scotland folder. I had such a increadible journey there and the weather was just fantastic. This photo is taken early in the morning at Pass of the Cattle at Applecross Peninsula.

The Applecross Peninsula covers an area of approximately 68,000 acres, lying north of Plockton and Kyle of Localsh, and south-west of the better known Torridon mountains. Although it is rare to see the area featured on any but the most conscientiously cartographed tourist publications, this large traditional estate offers some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland.

Good colours - nice contrast between the blue sky & the snow covered mountains. The light is good too - giving some nice shadows not only in the distance but around the seats in the foreground.

Hi Lucie - I know exactly where this is, I drove this road on a bright day in may 2000 and it was quite steep and scary, I cannot imagine being there in winter under snow, beautiful light, perfect timing.

Scotland is a beautiful country, and your shot shows it so well. The big mountains, the deep lakes, the wild sky - it's all there. A nice touch is the snow, reminding us of how cold it can be there. This communicates a peaceful feeling, and the benches invite us to sit for a while and enjoy the view. Excellent!
