It is a monument built in 1981 in honour of the founders of Bulgaria. The country exists since 681 and the Bulgarians are proud to be such an old european nation.

You did mistake. This is "Founders of the Bulgarian state" in Shumen. "1300 Years Bulgaria" is in Sofia. Good photo anyway :)

Wow amazing architecture, nearly similar to Notre Dame du Haut in Franche-Comte, will be interesting to recognize if the architect isn´t the same? :-)just joking
