Photographer’s Note
This is a shot of North Fork Falls. This waterfall is about 20 feet tall. It falls down a bright red/orange wall of clay into the Coal Creek. This waterfall will run dry by the summer, so it is important to visit it early, and when there has been rain or lowland snow.
Coal Creek and the area around is an old mining area. When hiking around Coal Creek, you will see an abundance of coal everywhere. Looking in the creek, you will see some coal. Also, there is a large amount of petrified wood in the area. When hiking around, you can see old mining equipment and shacks.
This shot does not show the falls' best flow, but it does look nice here.
Getting here is quite simple. Head out on I-90 east from Seattle, take the Newport Way/W Lake Sammamish Parkway exit (exit 13), then head up Lakemount Blvd about 3 miles. On the left, you will see Red Town Trailhead. Park here, then cross the road to the Coal Creek Trail. Head down the trail for about 1/4 mile, and you will see the falls on your right.

Hi Matthew
A nice smooth capture of the water and well shown against the copper coloured rocks. The framing is good and the exposure well balanced. Good shot.

So to get this misty effect you use a higher number f/stop and a longer exposer? I'll have to give that a try as I love this photo. The colors are so dramatic and intense, the contrast with the misty looking water is wonderful. A very graphically stunning photo! Excellent work.

Seems to be an impressive place even if it's hard to figure out the scale. The exposure is interesting to enjoy the waterfall. Well done.

I like the tight frame and the beautiful colors; it certainly looks pretty with this partial water flow, as we see nice shapes and the colors.

Matthew,
Now this is one after my own heart. I love falls with unique rock and especially love red rocks like this. Good exposure on the water to not let it get blown out.

Hi Matt
Very unusual color of the rock and the three "lines" of water.
