Photographer’s Note

This is my third in the Tall Ship Race series. We are looking at the SEDOV, named after the Arctic explorer Georgy Sedov. The ship was built in 1921 by KRUPS. This 4 mast barque sailed under the name Magdalena Vinnen in the Nitrate trade with Chili, later it went into the grain trade with Australia. In 1936 it was renamed Kommodore Johnsson.
After WWII it became Russian. It is, together with its sistership Krushenstern ( in the background), one of the last Cape Horners.
Home base Murmansk.
It takes passengers-
Sail: 3.971 m2
122 m.
beam: 14.2 m
draught: 6.5 m
Tonnage: 3.709
