Photographer’s Note
Not much to say about this one. It was taken a few nights back in Lymington. Not my usual type of shot, but I thought I would give it a try. Actually it was quite refreshing; after recent photo trips with howling wind and crashing waves, it was nice just to be able to sit on the pier and take photos in a calm and peaceful environment.
edit: before you all get carried away with your tilt comments, think about it more carefully before you pass judgement. i use a camera hotshoe spirit level for every shot - and EVERY shot from this location look exactly the same. its an illusion created by the shape of the bank on the horizon. the trees receding along the river give the effect of the tilting horizon, whereas its actually just perspective.

Hi Adam,
It may not be your usual type of shot but I find it particularly well done, well composed ! There is also a beautiful sunset light giving great colors to the water.

Hi Adam,
Stunning light and serene composition, even down to the timely swim-past of the swan which fills that corner nicely. I love the way you've caught the colours in the sky and the reflections on the water are simply lovely. Wonderfully sharp too, as we see here the benefits of using a tripod. Expertly done and presented. More of the same, please! Best wishes, Vicky

Hi Adam, beautifull shot with the sign, even if it is not your style I find it very good.

Hello Adam,
You're correct in that this is a change for your norm, and that it is a very calm image. The colors and balance of the image, along with the swan gliding through the calm waters make this a very warm and inviting scene,
Very good image,
Steve

Nice sunset picture, with excellent composition --with the swimming swan give additional balance. However, is the horizon a bit tilted to the right, isn't it?

This shot is absolutely gorgeous.
WHat a pity there's this 'NO MOORING' sign on the right.
The swan on the left completes perfectly the scene and adds a very calm side.
I've hadded this photo to my favorites.

Perfect time of day, and PoV for the scene, though a shame about the slight tilt.

Beautiful shot Adam! The colour and exposure are great, showing the delicate colours of the sky. The swan at the lower left adds an essential bit of life to the shot. Don't let the tilt police get you down - most of us realize that the real world isn't always flat and level, and the camera can play tricks on you (although I do admit that it bothers me too when someone says one of my shots isn't level). Great work!

Wow, camera's spirit level...;-D
I'm sometimes really amazed by well saturated and warm Canon's colours. Is this the case here as well or is it also helped by low setting sunlight?
huh, I'm missing photo info... any chance for including it during a load up?
Cheers,
Robi
PS. The compo without the swan wouldn't be the same! Really good one!

Helloooo Adam!
This is a beautiful shot. I love the view over this sheltered harbour with this late sunlight that creates such beautiful colours. The reflection on the water is beautiful and the details are amazing. The swan in the foreground is a nice addition to this photo. Great composition and so beautifully captured!
Greetings and have a Happy Easter!

Excellent shot Adam,
I agree with you about the horizon - I've been caught out by this when having a faily low lying or distant stretch of land on the horizon.
Personnaly I would have cheated though, and put the mast of the nearest yacht exactly on the vertical. I tested it and it works for me.
I love the composition and muted colours though. The swan fills an otherwise empty corner and completes the scene

Great shot! Definitely out of the norm (my first thought was "Not his usual type of shot", almost straight out of your note!), but very well done. The composition is great, and you put together a very deep image with your great use of planes. I agree with you about the tilt--I've been bothered by similar phenomenon in many of my pictures.
Nice work!

Dear Adam
Excellent shot. I am especially taken by the soft colors from the sunset. They make the scene glow.
