Photographer’s Note

The Portuguese who came in Goa in 1510 and departed in 1961, have left behind a rich architectural legacy, churches and also houses.
These typical windows have their shutters made of mother-of-pearl.

Le passage des Portugais a laissé un témoignage de leur passé.
Difficile d'imaginer que les éléments intermédiaires sont en nacre.

Great colours and composition. I think it would be even better if you cropped off the roof at the top of the frame.

Tout simplement j'adore ce genre d'images, et je te conseillerais d'en collectionner et de faire une affiche avec 16 d'entre elles. Tu ne regretteras pas et tu rendras beaucoup de gens heureux en les offrant.

Magnifiques couleurs Marilyn,
Deux fenêtres jumelles sur une façade parfaitment soignée.
L'inclusion de ces plantes dans le photo est un petit plus que j'aime bien.

Pleasant symmetrical composition, and the blue colours is very eye catching! Is the blue a part of the legacy too..?
I like the inclusion of the roof tiles, adding a nice colour contrast...

Nice graphism and symetry, even the flowers are at it, one pot under each window. Because the shot is not frontal, the tile roof is a bit distracting, being slanted frpm the angle of view, but a beautiful specimen of indian blue, painted on this mediterranean house (or church?).

Je viens de parcourir la gallerie et j'ai découvert cette excellente composition. C'est vrai que ceci rappelle un peu ce qui se fait au Portugal, mais l'oeil est enchanté.

that's a wonderfully bright blue. looks great with the windows. it's a pity it has stuff in front of them but it makes a great contrast to the tiles on the roof, which are quite old and neglected. well done!

Nice image and interesting note, and it amazes me knowing that those shutters are made of mother-of-pearl.

It seems to me that also the tiles on the roof are very typical of Portuguese architecture.

The composition and exposure are very good.

These close up details of part of a building can often, like this one of yours, be better than the whole of the building with the colour and detail being visible.

Marilyn, c'est une très belle photo. J'aime les fenêtres très graphiques ainsi que les couleurs principales le bleu et le blanc. Il m'a semblé que la netteté avait un peu souffert de la compression pour le post. J'ai fait un WS dans ce sens.

Ce que tu m'écrivais il y a peu dans une de tes critiques sur le fait que les maisons anciennes à Goa disparaissaient aussi rapidement m'attriste, surtout quand je vois de si jolies fenêtres - heureusement, il semble que cette maison-ci soit très bien entretenue et j'espère que malgré tout, la plupart de ces belles maisons resteront debout (aussi dans les villages de l'arrière-pays).

Something new for me..windows of mother of pearl? Wow! Good shot, very symmetrical with striking colours. One option was to crop off thr tiled roof, but I think I like it this way.
