Photographer’s Note

Walking through a small village across the mekong river not far from Luang prabang, I came across this little girl. She naturally took the pose for me and already acted as a woman, assertive of her soon to come beauty and seduction power. One of my favorites in Laos.

it is a very nice portrait, the pose of the girl is very natural, the background is interesting also, I don't see anything to complain about here, it is a very nice start!

Sweet shot and a wonderful first upload. The wood grain made a nice wram textured background for this little cutie.

Really great first posting Eric. A wonderful, softly lit portrait and a very nice expression on her face. I also think the backpack she is wearing is a nice touch. Personally, I wish you had aimed a little lower, as I don't care for the cropping through her hand, and I might have shot slightly to the left as well to bring her off center a bit. Overall though, this is a very, very nice portrait.

The door is wonderful. But the real subject is the beautiful little girl. I think you should bring her forward, let her fill the frame.

I did a Workshop in which I cropped down and moved her from dead center of the frame. I also Sharpened.

Softly lit yet still clear; warm colours in the skin the clothes and the background. Nice work. I like the texture of the wood but am somewhat torn; a bit of cropping out of the background would give a bigger image of the girl. Perhaps trim the dark bar on the right?

Incredible wonderful portrait Eric!
Such warm colors and a background that really brings out and match your subject!
If I should say something it might be to se her hands, and the frame around the picture is a bit strange ;) But those two things I don't think lessens the beauty in this shot, and is not really a critique...

This style of photos remenber me the exceptional work of brasilian Miguel Rio Branco (see Magnum site).
In this case, the light levels and colour's nuances are very well captured and makes an excellent portrait!

I would go all teh way to Laos and back just to take a photo like this (well, and anotehr one of a street vendor, and another one of an old man, and maybe a few more as well...) hahhaa...
what i love most is the little girl´s face/ she is soo cute, then the door as background, nice to have just one neutral color. And of course her expressive look, which you captured at the right second. Light, saturation, and composition of a pro.

Je fais un tour dasn tes anciennes photos. Celle ci est superbe, avec un air effectivement innocent... Beau mariage de la robe et du bois de la porte. Le sac à dos apporte une touche bcp plus moderne mais il fait tellement gamin qu'il va bien. Bravo, eric.

je fouille dans tes tiroirs et je trouve cette petite fille super mignonne.
j'aime beaucoup son demi-sourire, sa tête penchée, son regard, tu parlais de séduction...ça marche bien. les oculeurs sont belels aussi. Sans doute aujourd'hui tu ferais un cadrage différent. notamment pour ne pas avoir à lui couper les mains.

je découvre ce portrait qui a un charme fou,

I've made a travel in time back to 2002 and your very first photo in TE. I love to see the "grow" of the member as a photographer, but in your case the high quality is equal.

the images may be sharper or colourfull now, but only because there's no need to scan... because the inner skills are the same.

Petit à petit, je découvre tes photos qui sont pur enchantement du monde. Celle-ci est un petit chef-d'oeuvre esthétique et humain. Quelle jolie pose et quelle confiance en toi de la part de cette toute petite fille. Les couleurs sont merveilleuses, avec juste cette bande d'obscurité à dtoire. quel beau portrait, la pose saisie est parfaite, très bon rendu des couleurs et de la texture du bois, c'est tellement mignon qu'on ne va pas chipoter sur le cadrage, une photo plus que charmante !

Magnificent! Perfect colors
U caught very innocent glimpse and the smile, she seems she does not want to enter in, likes posing.
(Traditional village girl carrying modern plastic backpack, not a dilemma anymore in globilized world...)
