[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
I took this picture in Jishu-jinja shrine inside of Kiyomizu-dera temple. Jishu-jinja shrine is a shrine for pilgrims to pray for their love life. This picture shows a popular game to test if you have a good love life. As shown in this picture. A lady was walking, with her eyes closed, from the stone from the far end to the stone at the foreground.

The love stones are placed 18 meters apart. I don’t know the official meaning to the game. People believes that if you can start with your foot against one stone and you can end to touch the other stone with your eyes closed without assistant, you will find your love or you will have a bright future with your current lover.

Hi Wes,
Great angel in capturing this action. Did the girl touch the stone? Very nicely composed. Great shot.

Hola Wes.
Good history about touching the stones and having the perfect love life, well i wish them good luck, in real life it's quite different. Good picture with excellent details, good POV and perspective. very good daily life shot with great composition.
Well done. I wish you a nice weekend.

Hi Wes
Interesting this composition with the stone in front. The note is interesting.
Did you try yourself ?
Well done
BErtrand

Hi Wes, you have here a photo with rich content.
The light is interesting too.
Nice to have images from other exotice cultures.
Thanks for share.

Wes, great take! Good orientation and timing, delivering the idea of this special stone and the "ceremony" of the "love walk" - There is a bit of contrast between the smiling girls and the clouds building behind the shrine which takes a bit of the joy of this test (but then again, you dont have a control of the weather, right?). I would have tilted the camera a bit deeper to take the most of the stone and get maybe a bit deeper POV.
Even so, a lovely take and a good note too!

very nice one Wes,
I like the point of view, the perspective in the shot is great and the stone and the photographer made that perspective, very nice job, nice to look at.

Interesting custom - I wonder if it works :)You have also captured some attractive oriental detail in the scene. If the 2 girls are together I don't think the one taking the photo of her friend has as good a POV as you, as she won't get the stone in her shost.
Kath

Bonjour Wes
joli cadrage verticale et belle profondeur dans cette compo. Les teintes sont belles. Une photo très agréable à regarder. Bravo
Xavier

Hi Wes
I remember doing this on my visit to Kyoto. You've captured this so well. Your angle is great = you've created good perspective and the quality of the image is great too.
Best wishes and thanks for bringing back these memories.

Hej Wes,
Thank you for the interesting explanation of what we see on the photo. A good picture it is too with fine colours and a good composition. Good work, thanks for sharing!

Hi Wes,
Interesting little story, and very well depicted!
The second girl photographing her friend adds flavour...
Well framed image, good clarity in colours and with fine details!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Wes
i only entered to say hello to you and your shot is so interesting, good pov and nice colors
regards
manuel

Hi Wes,
What a "lovely" story presented here. Your POV is perfect and shows the scene in a very pleasant perspective. I like the interplay of the roof with the architecture seen in the background and the contrast with the nice grey sky. Good disposal for the people in the background as well.
Have a nice weekend,
Ricardo

Wes nice balance in this vertical setting. I think its interesting how the Japanese combine culture and mystery together in these activities. Excellent details rendered and the exposure is tack on. Thanks for sharing! Points to follow tomorrow!

Hi Wes - the photo itself is fine, a nice view & some good colours standing out against th dull cloudy sky. But for me, the note tops it off with it's explaination of the stones & what they're about. A good contribution to the site :)

Hi Wes,
A fascinating cultural tradition. I like the vertical format here, as it seems that we are all waiting for the lady at the shrine and wanting her to succeed. The woman in mid-frame seems to be photographing the event. I also like your framing and the way the stone is cropped. Well captured, Wes.

Hi Wes,
Nice street perspectives ;) And the sky is really nice and provides great lighting for your pic. What I like the most are the details of the pic - ie the Japanese writing. A very nice daily life scene well captured. Good job.

Hi Wes, This is a new theory, seems to work for this lady perhaps. Bit of fun to read and see the trial in action. Good POV for this and clear depth of field. Good result. Murray.

Superb technical quality and great details. Interesting story to go with this shot and a good insight into an aspect of this amazing culture. The framing is good too as you have given the shot some extra depth. Nice exposure and good colours. Well done.

Hi Wes

A good daily life shot from Kyoto, a city I am looking at going to in the July summer break. My other choices are Beijing, Vladivostok & Mongolia. Lots of interesting details to look at here, with excellent sharpness. Tfs!

A funny story, very well composed : with the necessary depth to illustrate your purpose and a good pov. A good shot, full of life and... love (if she reached the stone !!?).

Hello Wes!
Very interesting place and things!
I like the perspective there!
Very good done!
Best regards!

Hi Wes, thanks for the notes and it seems a fun way to test ones love. 8-) I like the good DOF and the smile from the girl trying her lucky. Hope she succeeded what she's looking for.

Hi Wes, a great shot that is obviously Japanese. I love the Japanese script and the traditionally shaped roofs. Good explanation about the stones too - wonder if your subject is about to find love?

Olá Wes
Bonita foto, cores excelentes, boa composição; gosto destas fotos de pessoas envolvidas com a fotografia, geralmente ficam muito naturais como esta. Parabéns.
Grande abraço,
Vera.

So you must take care when you walk in Japan :-))
The subject here is well build with the stone to have the story, this is a good picture

Super use of this foreground element and deep depth of field, Wes. I like this slice of life scene, but also appreciate the special nature of the composition.

Framing :-))
Idea :-))

Interesting note here!
Really like the way that you have kept in certain distance between the woman and the stone! Great sharpness and colour tones!=D

Hi Wes,
An interesting story which explains the position of the "love stone" in FG and the way that smiling girl is walking towards it. A lowering sky which creates an interesting light and a POV well choosen.
All the best,
Marilyn
