You have captured a beautiful, calm and peaceful atmosphere with this one. The sunset glow in the sky is lovely, yet the actual sun seems to be coming from the right as it is lighting up the life-guard station beautifully. The ships add an extra element of interest.

This is beautiful. The colour of the sea looks like a metallic blue which contrasts with the warm tones of the sky. The lideguard hut is well positioned in the frame and there is wonderful light falling onto it. The inmage is of a good quality too.

I think this is one of the best posts recently! The sky is perfect and lighting is good with tiny bit of red on the guard station box. Good placement of guard station and also that of the cargo ships. A well managed shot of great technical quality. Well done

Wes I like the dusk setting in this posting. Nice rule of thirds breaking the frame up, nice perspective including the cargo ships and Monica mountians in the background. A very peaceful scene at the close of the day.

Hi Wes - the colours here are really nice, the different areas of colour (sky, sea & shore) are good too & the composition works well.

Was it really a 5 second exposure? There doesn't seem to be any motion blur on the ships which I would have expected.

HI Wes,
The evening ambience is palpable here, as it appears to be a warm summer evening with magical light. I like the perspective and the dark layer of sand leading to the unusual little structure. The ocean seems calm, the freighters twinkling in the distance, and beyond the soft folded shapes of the Santa Monica mountains. A wonderful capture, Wes. First rate.

I like the way you've framed the lifeguard station, almost silhoutted against the ocean. As kath notes, the highlighting of the details with the last rays of sun and the two ships add greatly to to ambiance. I think it's a little oversharpened. Regards, Pat

The relaxing atmosphere and low light of this image are wonderful, and the POV that you chose to take it great with the life guard station kind of looking at the boats behind checking if everything is going fine.

This is a well-composed photo, Wes. Good use of horizontal layering to show the different elements in a balanced way, and also the placement of the lifeguard stand versus the two ships in the background makes for a good scene. The hazy dawn atmosphere with just a hint of the hills in the back is rather pleasant, too.

Hello Wes, it's a bit lonely on the beach at this time of the evening even though it's a pretty place to be. The low light illuminates the hut well and also gives the sky a beautiful pinkish hue. The large ships emphasise man's impact on this natural place.

Wes, this one has a lovely range of colour tones, and a lovely optical connection between the ships and the lifeguard station building, which looks so frail by comparison with the ships. The light playing on the sea is beautifully captured. A delightful, moody evening photo.

Looks a bit grainy Wes. but a fantastic time to take such pictures. Santa Monica Mountain silhoutte gives a great depth and frame limit to the picture. Very beautiful place to be.
