Photographer’s Note

Monastery gardens in Litomysl lay between two churches. I've already showed you the Piarist monastery with the church of the Discovery of the Holy Cross located on the Northern edge of the gardens and today's photo shows the Church of the Raising of the Holy Cross located on their southern side.

Provost church of the Raising of the Holy Cross was built as a part of the Augustinian monastery established in 1356 by the Bishop of Litomysl Jan of Streda and completed in 1378. After the fire in 1560 the damaged vault was demolished and a wooden ceiling was constructed. A new, lower, vault was built in 1601. At the end of the 19th century the church was partially re-Gothicised. Between 1995 and 2000 a large-scale restoration of the church and presbytery took place.

Witaj Marek!
Trudne warunki sobie wybra³e¶, ale zdjêcie poprawne. Lubiê takie obiekty i architekturê. Dobry kadr i ciekawe kolory.

Nice and interesting view over the Provost church, Marek!
I also like that 'small' house next to the church and wonder if it belongs to the clerics or is it just one of the houses that belongs to the neighbourhood?

Bonsoir Marek,
Chez nous,on appelle çà une "papagolfade".On voit que cette église a été restaurée,elle est magnifique.L'image est bien composée avec l'arbre au premier plan,bonne lumière et bonne netteté de l'ensemble.J'aime beaucoup.

A well composed shot of these church grounds. The lighting and shadow effects are alluring. The church looks very stately, with the tall windows and interesting roof line. I like your exposure level here and also the way the green hues of the lush grass contrast with the church and sky. Well captured.
