Photographer’s Note

This photo is dedicated to all of those that try to show us more about portuguese traditional means of transportation, in this case boats.
This one was taken at the end of the afternoon, with low tide on Seixal's bay.
The sky had very nice patterns due to the cloud formations.

So many boats, on so many shores, but...guess what,Paulo.
This one is a captivating charmer all over the frame.
The skies? The water? The pastel colors of the boat itself? I believe, all of these factors combined created the feeling.
Relax for the eye.

Hi Paulo. I love this type of shot. This is a good one, with the boat and the horizon in the right part of the composition, and a nice late afternoon sky to top it off. There is just enough subdued colour in the boat to attract the eye and balance the coming gloominess of evening.

Another of these beautifully painted Portuguese traditinal boats. Apart from the boat itself which deserves lots of praise, the compisition at low tide is very good. Colors are perhaps a bit basic (blue and grey), but your framing of the boat is execellent and additionally, there is the other (modern) fishing boat and the long cloud in the sky.

Bom dia Paulo,
Gosto muito. Estas horas de fim de tarde, ou muito de manhanzinha são de facto as melhores. Estando perto de casa, nem se pode fotografar noutra hora. A verticalidade do barco está muito bem apanhada contra aquele céu espectacular, criando um jogo de silhuetas, sem no entanto deixar de se ver as cores e desenhos típicos. Até as cordas que agarram o barco ajudam a estruturar a composição. Uma imagem muito bonita!

Um céu lindo, uma composição excelente e cores maravilhosas. A posição relativa dos barcos está muito boa e dá à foto um equilibrio correcto. Gostei também muito da versão no WS. Para ser sincero, acho que gosto mais dessa versão.

This is a nicely balanced composition and one that conveys a very placid scene. The colours add to the feeling of calmness. The cloud patterns are, indeed interesting and deliver a nice glow to the shot. The angular tilt to the boat is good to as it adds an extra visual element to the shot. Nice work.

I like the mood and the well framed shot here, the boat aside to drop totally in to the blue of the gradaint sky to the horizont fading in the mist passing lots of other boats scattered around but most apealing is the softness of the tomes maintained like an early morning view with fresh colder tones.
a pleasing shot indeed that I discovered by wondering about you by your fine reflection in the forum to see that you try out differant aproaches here in your explorations.

A superb image! I am impressed with the way you have kept colour and detail in the foreground, whilst showing a good range of colours in the sky. The vertical format was the right decison, as the sky is very strong.
I think you have also increased the saturation. This has made the image even stronger.
