Photographer’s Note
This is a shot of the Cattle Point Lighthouse on the southern tip of San Juan Island in the San Juan Islands (try saying that last part three times fast!). This shot was actually taken from an area called Shark Reef on the west side of Lopez Island (also one of the San Juan Islands).
In the far distance you can see the north side of the Olympic Mountains towering over the entrance of Puget Sound.
I was lucky to get this shot off without any boat traffic -- this stretch between San Juan Island and Lopez Island is one of the main routes from Victoria, B.C. and the rest of the San Juans.
Just off of Shark Reef is an island (appropriately) called Deadman Island where a large family of seals has taken up residence.

Beautiful colors and scenery!!! It is like a dream place. I like the positioning of the lighthouse on the right side of the photo and the extension of the mountains in the background.
Regards, Mehmet..
