The giants of Don Quixote Photo

Photographer’s Note

Esta foto está tomada en un ángulo distinto y más abierto y se puede ver el molino de mi primer post titulado “El nuevo Rocinante”, pero aquí se pueden ver más molinos que quedaban ocultos en aquella foto. Se aprecian también las bicicletas de los nuevos Quijotes, que siguen allí.

En el WORKSHOP 1 os muestro la vista desde el mismo punto pero girando 90º hacia la derecha, y se puede ver otro grupo de tres molinos y también la vista hacia la llanura de La Mancha, con un horizonte muy bajo y lejano.

En el WORKSHOP 2 podéis ver el detalle de las aspas de uno de los molinos, recortadas en el bello cielo castellano.

This photo is taken in a different and more open angle and the mill of my first post titled “The Modern Rocinante” can be seen, but more mills can here be seen than they were hidden in that photo. The bicycles of the new Quijotes are also appraised, that they still there.

In WORKSHOP 1 I show the view to you from the same point but turning 90º towards the right, and another group of three mills can be seen and also the view towards the plain of La Mancha, with a very low and distant horizon.

In WORKSHOP 2 you can see the detail of the vanes of one of the mills, trimmed in the beautiful Castilian sky.

Olá Josep
Esta é a foto que gosto mais nesta série de moinhos de Dom Quixote (Quixote ou Quijote, em castelhano?). Mas creio que gostaria mais sem as casas à direita, mostrando somente os moinhos.

Josep, veo que tienes una serie de fotos de molinos... muy buenas, por cierto.
Lo que impresiona es el contraste, la claridad del cielo celeste con la blancura de los molinos. En esta, es imteresante tu POV, porque te da una idea general de como es el lugar y la distribución de los molinos.
Muy bonita toda la serie. No puedo elegir una en particular como favorita! todas lo son!

Colors are incredibly in harmony. Your lower POV gives more view on beautiful ground texture and adds more sky with wonderful wind mills. Especially I like rock borders on terrain that you used here as a divider what I remembered very well from your other photographs. Used very clever. Workshop photographs are very informative with your detailed notes. Congratulations.

un cadrage et un POV à mon goût bien plus interessants que sur la précédente photo.
Un merveilleux ciel, exposition réglée pour en capturer et rendre le moindre filmant nuageux. Exposition parfaite tout simplement.
Les ailes ont toutes été arrêtées dans la même position.

Otra genial composicion, Josep. La imagen goza de mucha claridad y la luz llena perfectamente todo el negativo. Me gusta tambien la manera en que habeis manejado el espacio negativo dandole espacio al ojo para percibir el ambiente que rodea a los molinos.

¡Qué bonito cielo, aunque no sea el tema principal de la foto! Lo digo primero porque esas texturas me gustan mucho, no porque los molinos me gusten menos. Has cogido muy buena perspectiva con muy buena luz. Me imagino que llevarías buena gorra, porque parece hacer un sol de justicia y, a pesar de todo, los colores están bien, sin molestas sobreexposiciones. Un abrazo,

This is so nice, Josep, these windmills of LaMancha in an excellent light and such a desert-like surroundings. I would maybe crop somewhat from the bottom and also this wall from the right, to make the shot more pure and abstract. Very good indeed.

Excelente si señor, ahora me haces dudar de cual me gusta más si esta o la anterior de los molinos. En esta ocasión veo una toma más alejada donde se pueden ver muchos más molinos. Parece un paisaje lunar dominado por molinos de viento.

You have put together a wonderful series about these mills. They must be a beautiful sight in reality. I like this wide view that shows much more than the earlier one. The composition works well with the low horizon and lots of space left over for the beautiful sky with the wispy clouds. Thank you for the extras in the WSs too

Josep, on sent que le lieu et tous ces moulins t'ont bien inspiré. Et c'est ta joie que tu nous fais partager là. Cette fois c'est une armée de géants qui viennent attaquer Don Quichotte. Le soleil a l'air de taper fort ce qui expliquerait la méprise du chevalier. La composition est remarquable et les couleurs méditerranéennes font chanter la photo.

Esta foto hermosa merece a cada solos punto y favorito; va la mía también. El enmarcar es tan idílico que se parece que que es tiene que ser una pintura. El racimo de 5 molinos de viento es perfecto, la línea de las nubes que fluyen se parece ser generado por los molinos de viento. La curva lisa del primero plano sigue la misma línea. Pat
This beautiful photo deserves every single point and favorite; it's going to mine as well. The framing is so idyllic that it seems that is has to be a painting. The cluster of 5 windmills is perfect, the line of the streaming clouds seem to be generated by the windmills. The smooth curve of the foreground follows the same line.

I've been seeing this photo in your gallery and for some reason I never opened it even though I was always drawn to it. So very interesting the windmills in spain! They are so much prettier than the HUGE versions we are seeing these days.. The photo is so pretty with the white sands and white mills, against that bright blue sky...the people there give a nice perspective on their size. TFS

it was only last night that I saw some of these wonderful mills on the TV so when I saw this on your homepage I couldn't pass it by. Soy un aficionado de Don Quixote. En el pasado he leyido trozos del libro de Senor Cervantes. Hoy en dia estoy leyendolo desde el principio hasta el fin. Es una cuenta fantastica. Quelle image magnifiques de ces moulins si caractéristiques du pays de Cerventès. L'utilisation du grand angle associée à une composition très réussie où le ciel représente les 2/3 de l'image donnent une prise de vue parfaite. Chose rare pour cette région, la lumière n'est pas trop dure et enveloppe doucement la blancheur des batiments.
C'est vraiment une image très réussie, bravo.

I had never seen a row of windmills in this manner, except in shots of Mykonos

Imposible no quedárse hiptnotizada por esa captura, y pienso que las mejores capturas son exactamente aquellas que contienen pocos elementos, pero bien trabajados. Eso es el caso de esa toma, sin duda alguna, muy bien trabajada. Me quedé encantada con la división y el encuadre de la misma. Perfecto. Bien hecho !!! Quizás, algun día podré hacer algo así .. J'aime beaucoup cette photo, le sujet est bien traité et les couleurs sont superbement contrastées. Le ciel est magnifique et, couplé à cette belle lumière, cela donne une image très réussie.

Es un lugar fantástico que he visitado hace 3 años. Muy volvió bien el aspecto un poco desértico del paisaje dejando esta gran parte blanca delante. Me gusta también la importancia que ti repartos al cielo sobre todo con estas nubes a las formas alargadas.

Hi Josep,

This is really one of the best shots I've ever seen from Campo de Criptana. I've been there myself two time but never succeed to create such a master piece.Well composed, a fantastic
semi-cloudy sky and a really beautiful incidence of light.

Impresionante lugar al que yo dediqué una mañana también, no tuve la suerte de disponer de un cielo con esas nubes planas que tanto ayudan, pero ahí estuve fotografiando a los molinos manchegos. Me gusta como has jugado con el ángulo para dar profundidad a la imagen usando el paralelismo del suelo con el cielo ayudado por esas nubes.

No veo ningún molino, solo gigantes con clavas fuertes queriendo pegarme. Bella foto, con el cielo muy bonito. Podemos casi sentir el viento, magnífico. Bel homenaje a la grande obra de lo Mestre que redeseño la lengua española. Viva Cervantes!

Veo que está foto lleva tres años aquí. Yo no la había visto hasta ahora y la he encontrado, afortunadamente, de casualidad.
Es un encanto de foto en la que lo que más me impresiona es el suelo casi blanco en contraste con el cielo azul.
Los molinos aparecen pequeños en comparación con el cielo y el suelo y creo que acercarse más a ello hubiera sido un error. A veces -a mí al menos me pasa- nos concentramos tanto en el motivo que nos olvidamos que el contexto puede ayudar mucho en la foto.
No me extraña que esta foto haya tenido tanta aceptación. Es estupenda.

Hola Josep, the symmetry of these beautiful mills is just superb and when combined with the low POV and that amazing cloudy sky, it really is a winner for me.
