Photographer’s Note
8.35 p.m. - I was somewhat sidetracked from TE for a few weeks trying to explore some territories that I am not familiar with. So now that I have found my way back, it’s another relief. I must say I enjoyed the time that I was away and getting the first hand experience of places that I always admired through TE. This trip took me to Shanghai, Jiuzhaigou in Sichuan and the Three Gorges.
Shanghai was my first stop and as I was traveling in a group we were immediately whisked to see this famous tower. Being in a cruise ship, taking a shot in the night is quite a challenge and especially so when you have to do it hand held. The viewing deck is certainly not a place for tripod. However, as we were constantly moving it provided plenty of opportunity to look at the scene from different angles.
The Dongfang Mingzhuta (Oriental Pearl Tower) is located in Pudong Park in Lujiazui, Shanghai. It is 468m high (1,536 feet) and is the world’s third tallest TV and Radio tower. It rest on a patch of rich green grassland, making it to look like pearls on a jade plate.
The tower housed a variety of facilities for commerce, recreation, education, conferences and the Shanghai Municipal History Museum. There is also a revolving restaurant and a sightseeing floor. As a TV and Radio tower it services the area with more than 9 TV channels and 10 FM radio channels.

You made it well, especially from a boat. This place is crazy and you captured well the futuristic atmosphere. Good night-light management.
Welcome back.

Hello Aloysius,
Personally I find any kind of tall upright structure very difficult to photograph..!
However this is a fine composition and very well managed, good details in the low light exposure and pleasant colour reproduction...
Greetings,
