Ghosts of Venice Photo

Photographer’s Note

An everyday scene in Venizia. The idea of the pic is to combine the still cityscape with the movement of its inhabitants. If the figures really are ghosts haunting the streets, I guess there is hope for them: Note the graffiti on the bridge!

I walked around and got lost in the narrow streets of the area called Dolceduro. Fortunately with the camera as the light was perfect and motives are plentiful in La Serenissima. But I had no tripod, so I had to rest the cam on a bench. Took a bunch of shots and finally got it right.

"Ghostly shapes drifted by..." sounds like a quote from and old gothic ghost story.

Your photo has an interesting composition, most of the bridge is in frame. You have just clipped it enough to pull the view away from it and rather makes the viewer focus more on the people and the "ghosts" on the bridge.
Colours and light are soft, creates some great realism.
The eerie blue light that reflects off the water and the boats seems to underline the slightly "scary" feeling of this photo, great job.

You know, yesterday I heard something like this: It took me a lot of effort to have luck... and in this case, your effort was more than worth it!
Hope that you could understand me, it´s not easy to translate something that you know in another lenguage!
So, great colors, the blue is really appealing and those ghost, is what we are... once we are there, and then, in somewhere else... always moving ourselves.

great POV! I like the smoothness of the canal water a lot, the light of the shot is amazing giving really a mythic atmosphere.
Do you know the people standing on the bridge or were they just put there by the hand of ghosts? :-)

You definitely got it right! Beautiful shot and great capture of the graffiti!
I wonder what time of day this was and how the weather was. It seems like dusk but perhaps in the summertime. Unless your WB is set a certain way.

Ah Venice! My favorite city in the whole world. Lovely night shot here during that magical blue hour when there is still enough light to produce good photos. The ghosts are amazing. If they were alone in the bridge... Like your composition very much and that "hope" writings in the bridge are a huge bonus. Very nice!
