Photographer’s Note
Today I had a very good day :)
The German Touring Cars (DTM) celebrated their season opening in Hamburg ! Before work I had some time (7:40am) and wondered if maybe some preparations were going on at the town hall square where they were supposed to show off the cars in the afternoon.
I walked right into the beginning of a press shooting !!! Just press-people and only very very few early birds like me (it was not announced in the papers). Boy, did I (and my small cam) have fun between all those big guys with their very BIG lenses. They were even very nice like "You, go in front, you can take better pictures there!" Ok, some were not that nice pushing all other people around. After a while all the drivers (Alesi, Frentzen etc.) arrived and just walked by to the cars. Lots of shouting from the pro photographers to get their good shots *ggg*. (I didn't start shouting, maybe next time.... ;-) )
In the back you see the entrance to our town hall. In front 2 "normal" Mercedes, just a little tuned for racing.
The season starts on 18th of April in Hockenheim.
Please take a look at the other pictures:
#2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7

these mercedes don't look real because of the kit car frame they have on them well done I like the angle it was shot.

No need to have a big camera to get good photos ! The DX works well, and the photograph too :) Very nice lights on the wall in the background and a good point of view for these cars giving a agressive aspect suitable with these monsters of the road.

Framing is powerful, I like the camera angle and the colors are good, which contrast with the cars and the buildings at the bottom.

Great job getting up early enough to be there in time for this event, and even greater job of taking this picture, Jan. Your low shooting angle is very well chosen, and I enjoy the contrast between Hamburg's beautiful old city hall in the back, and between the colorful "horsepower monsters" in front. Very well done indeed.

Interesting angle here! I really like the DTM!
One of my favorite to see these cars... I like their modification style, espacially their exterior. Very cool! Unfortunately, i rarely see them in TV here, anyway Thanks for sharing!

Hi Jan,
Also a great picture of this two Mercedes cars. Good low angle and well composed. Good colors to! Are this the cars where the dutch driver Christiaan Albers is riding??

Great long shot. It accentuates the low and wide design of these cars. Very impressive. The cars also are given a strong hunter feel with your low angle and their design. Perfect position to capture these cars. Very nice.
