Photographer’s Note

Autumn in Amsterdam. October is with april the best month to visit Amsterdam if you want to take profit of the light and the colours around the canals. The light has something special in these two months. The light that the dutsch masters in the 17th century also used.

This is the Keizersgracht (Emperorscanal) obne of the 4 main canals of the 17th century city.

Bravo pour votre galerie, très jolie.
Ici, c'est un bel endroit et vous avez raison de faire des images de ce lieu. Par contre il y a un déficit de mise au point et de clareté, mais cela devait être très difficile à gérer (seulement 1 point).
Je vous propose un workshop.

Wonderful colors and lights creates great autumn atmosphere here with dried yellow foliages. I like dark part of left side and rust colored canals too. Congratulations.

Hoi Gerrit,

Een schitterend locatie voor een mooie foto, en slecht is hij zeker niet, in fotografie zijn altijd kleine verbeteringen mogelijk, en ik weet zeker dat u weet dat het donkere gedeelte net iets teweing licht geeft, maar daartegenover krijgen wij zeer mooie kleuren, ook diepte en perspectief, ik ken dit type van camera niet maar meestal werken deze automatisch en instellen is er gewoon niet bij, misschien proberen met een bewerkingsprogramma om kleinigheden wat bij te sturen, ook dit geeft soms voldoening. De WS is teveel aangescherpt en is niet wat het zou moeten zijn. Bedankt voor uw bezoek.

I agree that the light can inspire to painting also as taking photographs. Good green colour on the canal and yellow leaves. But the green glow somewhere around the leaves disturbs a bit. I know this effect and I know it is hard to avoid ;).

Very well composed image with the leaves concealing the sky. The light filtering through is highlighting the leaves well.

This is a very moody capture from autumnal Amsterdam!
The backlight leaves the houses on the canal bank in the shades, but really brings out the colours of autumn leaves...
Nice reflection from the canal, the guys passing the bridge add life!

I do love the light on the autumn leaves and the way the trees frame thew canal. Good to know the best times to visit, I really appreciate that. We're going to the Greek Islands in May, so it's remotely possible that we might be there in April.

We don't need to go in Guatemala, Chalendar islands or Ouagadougou, to make great pictures, right?:))
Sometimes the fruit seller, that we see every day going on work, can be the best face for a portret, the big oak right out of our living room window, for the perfect autumn fall, the traffic on monday morning as the best action picture...
Nice Amsterdaam here...I would love to see it with my eyes:)
