Photographer’s Note
In th midle of a buisy shopping-street, they meet. Spoke just a few words in the so about 15 minutes, time I looked to them over the edge of my coffecup. Zoomed almost the max. of the lens. Then I left.
They’re maybe still standing there. What do they talk about?
Try to find out...
Toledo is a city and municipality located in central Spain, about 70 kilometers south of Madrid.
It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986, due to its extensive cultural and monumental heritage.
Toledo was famed for its production of steel and especially of swords and the city is still a center for the manufacture of knives and other steel implements.
As encountered by the Romans, the city – called Toletum – was the capital of the Carpetani.
Later served as the capital city of Visigothic Spain, until the Moors conquered Iberia in the 8th century.
Under the Caliphate of Cordoba, Toledo enjoyed a golden age. This extensive period is known as La Convivencia, i.e. the co-existence of Jews, Christians, and Muslims.
Cervantes described Toledo as a "rocky gravity, glory of Spain, and light of her cities." The old city is located on a mountaintop, surrounded on three sides by a bend in the Tagus River.

Portraits intéressants de deux personnages qui se font face et ne se rencontrent pas. Les éléments de l'arrière plan participent aussi de cette scission et semblent une extension de ces deux hommes...

Hello Janos,
A beautiful shot of the two men in conversation, the lime green shirt of one of the men creating an excellent highlight. Your note is very much appreciated. My last book, "Math and the Mona Lisa," is about to be released in its tenth foreign edition, in Spanish, and just yesterday I wrote a special foreword for that edition. I wrote about Cervantes, I wish I had knows that quote from Cervantes that you cited. Actually, the Spanish publisher is in Cordoba.
Warm regards.
