Photographer’s Note

This gave me quite a headache... And my first post for long...

We visited my mother-in-law at their cottage and too late in the evening she mentioned the last rose still in bloom. She told us, the rosebush had been in bloom almost the whole summer. This was shot a few days after the first real snow.

It was not as dark as it seems to be in this shot, but too dark to shoot without flash or a tripod.

It was quite hard to not overexpose the snow too much. In this shot I got quite close to what I wanted. There is even some more detail in the snow, now barely visible. But bringing it out distracted me from the rose. On the other hand the use of flash gave me a nice black background.

This is also my contribution to the Scavenger Hunt VIII: Bad Weather ;-)

PP:
- Crop
- Shadows/highlights darkened the highlights to give deeper color to the rose and the green. This also gave some more detail to the snow, mostly on the rose. Brightened shadows a tiny bit.
- USM (100%, r=0.6, tres=3)
- Framed (is the colorline in the "correct" color?)

Thank you to everybody who gives critique!
