Photographer’s Note
An experiment today.
Two young women were hurrying excitedly to the office Christmas party... (I learnt this as I happened to stand behind them on the escalator.) The one on the left was clearly impressed by her new shoes, watching them as she waited impatiently for the escalator to reach the ground floor, hardly giving me a second to grab my nikon and take these shots.
(Were I a bit more confident about these experiments, I would dedicate them to Rafal or Fred--instead I brace for your darts and arrows ;-)
"People say she’s crazy
She got diamonds on the soles of her shoes
Well that’s one way to lose these
Walking blues
Diamonds on the soles of her shoes"

Hi Sarolta,
Nice experiment, the composition is very intriguing. I like the movement contrasting the symetric lines of the escalator.

Daniel

Nicely minimalisitic, a funny pair in 'black and white'...their pride is well captured in their shoes. Well seen.

Women only see shoes, but I also like the patterns that the escalator forms: The straight lines of the stairs and the texture of the exit make this image special.. and that single sharp foot (and shoe of course) make it perfect. Great shot!

Man, I cannot understand the dirth of comments on this one - this is what many, many hotogs on TE would like to achieve even once (trust me!) and you seem to have carried it off effortlessly. Sensuus, slick, and magical.
Hi from a wet Tokyo,

Hola Sarolta...very dramatic...gets the imagination flowing with "stories" in all directions...A very moving capture full of dynamics. Great work with the B&W conversion.

Great experiment here Sarolta which has worked out well. Love the whole sharp feel given by the escalator and the almost piercing light being reflected from it. Perfect shutter speed as well, to have the ground still, yet the legs blurred.

Good semi abstract take on a familiar scene. I like the idea of the title also, which gives us certain conotations of the location.

Hi Sasa. Nice take on a daily-life scene on the escalator, with the two women and her shoes. I think that the framing works really well with the diagonal alignment of the escalator elements and the placement of the two women's legs. This really lends itself to b&w and looks good that way. I'm putting this into my song title theme (I think that Paul Simon's "Graceland" album was an instant classic already when it appeared in 1986). Greetings from Okayama, Japan.

Very dynamic shot Sasa. The motion blur, the metallic diagonals filled with light, the white vs dark pair of legs and the high heels. It's a highly clever shot! I like it! Well deserved dedication to these friends that are always pushing forward. Just like you...

why arrows and darts?? praises and laurels I could say instead;-) as usual your experiments seem to be hiting the right spot at once! the blurry escalator is a strong and very present character in the beauty and strength of this shot! I also love the dark versus light dress/ stockings...
congrats my dear

dediate it to Fred, Im only trying to follow him:)
But actually this one reminds me of one I did on an escalator too. Its a scene from a city, a city that keeps going at break neck speed, where even stairs arent stationary. And lets thank God for that, I couldnt live in the country, I guess I like the energy of a big city which fuels me. And this photo shows just that sort of urban, maniacal movement.

Christmas party, in november. I thought we were early on xmas in the uk. Yeh. Fred and Rafal like doing this work and it's not that easy either. Good way too push yourself and be creative. And metal and b&w looks just soooo great. Nice one Sasa.

Hi sasa.
A come back on this "rafal" shot.
I really like this style of pic....and this one is really nice managed.
The blur effect is impressive and your choice of framing is perfect too.
A good impact...I like it
