Photographer’s Note
The Simplonpass has existed since roughly 1800 years as a passage between Switzerland and Italy, but only in the XIII th century a hospice was first built for the rare travellers who dared to venture there. Expanded in the XVII th century it was not on the pass exactly, but a few hundred meters down on the south side, on the place known as "Alter Spittel" that you see here.
The better known hospice sitting on the Simplonpass was later initiated by Napoleon.

Salut jean-yves,

Hello Jean Yves,
very well chosen, attractive vertical format here. The high pov is excellent and the perspective is great including the climbing road and the car on it. The building is placed perfectly in the frame. I noticed only a little imperfection JY, do you know which?
Very nice work! Tfs and best wishes.

Ah Jean-Yves, this is so good. What an intense sense of space and calm this one transmits! There is something magical about tall mountains that always produces this feeling in my soul. Colorwise, this is amazing, but I am sure a polarizer would even boost this colors. Compo is good too but if it was I, I would give just a bit more space on the bottom to place the bottom of the beautiful building in the bottom third. Great shot my friend!

Bonsoir Jean Yves,
Angel.

Hi Jean-Yves. I thought you might have used your wide angle here but I guess I was wrong. I like the idea of including the cloud as well as the hospice. Beautiful shot JY!

Great shot of this pass, with the large and impressive hospice seeming to face the mountains themselves. The photo seems very well balanced too. Well done!

Hi Jean!
Wow, it's quite high! I like the way you placed the building. The line of the road and that snowy part going frm the mountain is fine as well.
Regards,
Seb

Bonjour JY,

Hi Jean,
There is good depth obtained here in the vertical format, with the hospice nicely situated in the corner and providing balance. The brown and green hues blend well together, and the curving road with a vehicle thereon gives one a good sense of proportion. This is a scenic area and I am surprised it is not visited more. Good clarity of detail in this high quality photo.

Salut, Jean-Yves.
