Photographer’s Note
This castle is situated on the small Island of Lindisfarne off the Northumbrian coast and can be accessed by car at low tide via a cause way.
The Island of Lindisfarne also known as Holy Island is steeped in religious history and visited by thousands each year. The Island and the surrounding area lends its self to photography and is well worth a visit.

hey irene ,you managed to post an image ,well done and happy new year to you and derric ,you have caught this well although if you had taken it from the path below and looking up towards the island it would look even more striking. But you have still caught the atmosphere of the place

This is a unique view of the castle which we see many times taken from afar. I like the way you used the bridge railing as a lead-in.
Good to see a new post from you.
Happy New Year to you and your family.

Hi Irene,
Fantastic pov! Impressive how it can look unbalanced with that fence on the foreground disaligned with the other one on the bg and the inclined small hill on the left, but it actually produces a much beautiful original efect.
I think there is a little dof problem with some lack of focus on the bg, but that doesn't damage much, although some more sharpness would be welcome.
Congratulations, I like it very much.
TFS, Regards, José

Beautiful shot of Northumberland here. I don't know about everyone else, but I like the inclusion of the rail. It gives an inviting look to the picture, and draws your eye down the path to the castle. Good job.

Hi Irene!
A nice castle. They usually look so gloomy and impregnable, but here the castle is so light, it peacefully stands on the green grass... There is nothing martial about it!
Vadim.

Hi Irene
I really like the composition of your photograph and what a great subject to shoot.
I have visited Holy Island numerous times - it is probably my favourite place in Northumberland and the castle is such a dominating sight when viewing the coastline.
Well done.

Lindisfarne rings a bell for me: art history, The Lindisfarne Gospels...
Great picture of this fortress. Love the green hills surrounding it.

I first visited this place in 1980, when you could still drive quite close to the castle to visit.
From there it had a wonderful look of a fairytale location with a winding path going up to the door.
So many possibilities for good pictures on Holy Island.

Hi Irene,
A nice composition of this beautiful view and a well balanced image in its content.I'm not sure about the placing of the wooden fence.... it has added depth to the image but it is maybe a touch distracting being placed so centered.Good contrasts in light and I like how the castle is touched by the sun.TFS and take care.

this is a motif shot..you establish a fence..and it leads us to another which fixed the foreground firmly to the background...the midground just goes along with the whole thing since its passive
a nice an bright shot for us to enjoy in this winter period
cheers

Really nice shot Irene. An unusual take on a familiar scene - and all the more enjoyable for it. I like the striong patterns in the wooden rails. You've handled the high contrast between sky and shadows very well. TFS. Regards, Paul.

Original perspective, interesting brightness with the long shadows (must be toward end of day), useful note.
The focus on the castle could be improved though. Maybe your autofocus was fooled by the fence in the foreground?
Congratulations Irene!

Hi Irene,
Beautiful photo with lots of interesting elements. Great composition and POV, as the castle is perfectly placed in the frame, and the railing guides the eye thru the picture itself. Very well done. Cheers
