Photographer’s Note
On our tour of Italy, we started off in Rome and the first day travelled to Pompeii and Sorrento, crossing by ferry to the Isle of Capri. For some reason it was nothing like I had imagined. I had thought it to be something like a Caribbean island. What amazed me was that it consisted of high cliffs and rocky platforms. We came up from the harbour by funicular railway and at the top of the railway terminus we found this beautiful sight. I couldn't believe that all the houses and hotels seemed to be carved into the rocky surroundings. We had two days on the island and managed a boat tour and a land tour to Anacapri the highest point.

What a breath takingly beautiful view, Joan! I like the perspective opening to the sea and the contrast between the white houses and greenery on the rocks. The lovely tilt of the rocky platform makes your composition fine. Very well done!

This is a spectacular composition with lots of depth. I like the way you portrayed how this town has ingrated itself in the rock. The colours and light is nice too, there's a hint of early autumn in it. Lovely enticing shot, Joan.

Beautiful composition. The colors are great. The sea is beautiful. The lines lead nicely to the peak with the buildings, the land and the poles. The depth is great with the near buildings and the distant ones. It really is breathtaking there and you did a really, really, good job capturing that feel. Very spectacular!
