The Karlsruhe Rhine Ports are among Europe's largest. With total throughput of 6 million tons per year, they form one of the largest in Europe.
Since 1901, the Rhine Ports have linked businesses in Karlsruhe and the surrounding area with international shipping on the Rhine. They provide an interface between the different haulage companies, and a link between manufacturer and consumer. Thus, the Ports formed a major component for the economic development of the city of Karlsruhe and its surroundings.
