Photographer’s Note
She was present alright at her wedding but hidden in a separate room.
The actual wedding ceremony was done with the groom signing the contract and praying together with the guests.
She was hidden so I post only a photo of her hand drawings to respect the culture of a Muslim marriage.

This is a very intimate one with so much details of the ritual drawings.
Nice to say that there is also muslim weddings in this area, (I remeber you have photographied a Mosquée last year).
Colors are excellent and so for the framing of the hands and this focus giving a rich detail.

Hello, Henk--
Nice work here, a very sensitive picture, holding her hand sharp, but with a strong bokeh allowing the rest to fade. The colors and decor are bright and intricate... but here she sits, alone... and i feel like the body language expressed by the hands conveys that feeling. A nice culturally sensitive and intesting picture.
Thanks!

HI Henk,
ON your picture the muslim marriage is beautiful, however I don't think it is really true.
The shallow DOF is very nice here - for me it shows some insecurity feeling that I expect about this situation. The gold with this amazing blue and brow is wonderful.
Thanks for sharing!

Henk,
I am surprised you could get so close to a conservative muslim bride, that too at the time of the Nikkah....
The DOF here is very classic...Nicely done.
She should be proud looking at this.
Cheers,
Prem.

Henk this picture looks very real. The colors and designs on the hands of the woman are quite interesting and elaborate. Good work showing the hands only. Thanks for sharing.

Hello
From time to time, i come to your portfolio and I have the chance to see things I really like. It's too bad I do not notice those things when in Tamil Nadu.
Anyway, since i don't speak tamil, i couldn't ask people if i can take a picture.
Thanks for sharing.
Yann
PS : if you speak french, then you could have a look to this webzine talking about tamil culture, particularly in Pondichery.

Bonsoir Henk,
Remarquable (encore) prise de vue ! Détails superbes autant que les couleurs. Le couple 5D et le 70-200 permet vraiment de faire d'excellentes choses lorsqu'il est au service d'une main et d'un oeil avisés. Bravo.

Henk,
First of all, I have to commend you for respecting the culture and it's traditions. You have captured some great mendhi artwork on the hands and the beautiful embroidery from her clothing. Very colorful.

Zoals iemand al opmerkte, de houding van de handen reflecteert allicht de schuchterheid van haar gezicht... Vermoed ik toch. Hoe kwam je er dan toch zo dicht bij ?
