Photographer’s Note
Wel this was the last photo I took on this horse treK, i RAN OUT OF FILM WHICH i VERY MUCH REGRETTED AS WE CAME ACROSS ANOTHER VILLAGE WITH A FUNERAL.
It was bucketing down with rain and some of the people were seeking shelter and others following the procession with all the banners and flowers and religous artifacts. A small village it was and few young people, only children, their parents and grand parents. Quite a few of the houses looked abandoned, I suppose the younger generation have decided to seek their fortune further afield. Something like this happened in England during the industrial revelution.
Anyway back to the photo, a very rural and hard life with little in the way of modern material goods (although many did have mobile phones!) however this society did not seem to have the same problems as in urban areas, there is actually an awful lot of freedom to go where you want as you please. Worth a small fortune that

Those clouds look menacing as they gather on the horizon and the men in the fore ground seem to hurry up. Is a wonderful countryside shot with pleny of nature and plenty of activitiy all around. The b/w adds mystical value. good pov and lovely perspective. Superb overall composition

The composition and framing is very well balanced here, and the panoramic crop suits the linear lines that run through the landscape, and was probably the best choice as I imagine there wasn't much going on in the foreground.
This is a way of life that can't have changed much in hundreds if not thousands of years, and it's a fascinating glimpse into the past. You wouldn't have seen a sight like this in the UK since the 1940's or even earlier, I imagine.
One question: you obviously like black and white so why not shoot on black and white film to begin with rather than convert from colour slides? I suppose you have the choice of colour or black and white doing it that way. I've just answered my own question!
Good work Simon.
Cheers,
Ben

Well done, good diagonal distribution of focused objects. The contrast is not too hard and give a warm result, as the wheather.

I love this shot: its old time mood is so inviting. Every element is well placed: the chart with the white horse, the persons walking in the fields and the cloudy sky creating a special atmosphere.
Well done. Thanks for sharing

Like a picture from yesteryear Simon, a super image. The background hills and stormy sky give depth to this wonderful rural scene.
