Photographer’s Note
This was the first glimpse of Red Rock Canyon, NV.
Taken from the net for those interested parties:
The most significant geologic feature of Red Rock Canyon is the Keystone Thrust Fault. A thrust fault is a fracture in the earth's crust where one rock plate is thrust horizontally over another. About 65 million years ago, it is believed that two of the earth's crustal plates collided with such force that part of one plate was shoved up and over younger sandstones. This thrust contact is clearly defined by the sharp contrast between the grey limestones and the red sandstones.

Good shot. Highways in the open West always seem to do a nice job of creating depth in such a big landscape. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ursula, great shot, you've got to love that red rock. Your composition is good. I like the colour. The greens and reds especially go well together. I'm not normally crazy about highway scenes but this one works. I like the saturation level in that yellow line. I think the shot might be a tad on the soft side but overall its great.
Thanks, John

Great shot - I also like the perspective and composition very much, including the road and vehicles shows the enormity of the rock.

Great shot - the road leads the viewer into the shot, with a dramatic backdrop created by those mountains. Good notes too.

Hi Ursula: Nice road show! I like how the road curves to the right and the line continues up straight in the crevice in the mountain, I like the perspective in the colour and it also looks like you adjusted the colours a bit,, well done Tfs Romy

Hi Ursula - welcome to TE, great work here, the mountain looks so imposing, and the red arid hills make a nice colour contrast with the green roadsides (I'm very surprised at how green it looks, most of Nevada is a sepia brown bunch of nothingness)

Hello Ursula,
Cool photo :) I like the black car in front of your car (I suppose) best ;) For me it's a great composition with lovely colours. It looks like a windows wallpaper a little ;) Did you take the photo when you were driving the car or did you actually stop to take it?
TFS

Nice shot Ursula!
I lie so much the mountains far away! I like their shape and their colors. I like the green on each sides of the street and as weird as it may seem, I like the road with the cars, and especialy the yellow lines. It seems like everything fits well...everything in the right place. A lot of contrast between the green, black, red of the mountains, yellow...
Best regards,
Marc

Hi Ursula,
the pix is just captivating. the impact of the road is very different as it leads to the mountain. The contrast is great by giving a good panoramic view. I wish for a bluer sky and a more brownish rocks.
Great shot.

Foozi
