This is an amazing portrait..specially when the subject is straight away looking at you...I can understand the gaussian blurr done to the BG...but would still like to enhance this old man..so here is a WS for you..

Yes I like him and you managed a great portrait of him.I like his friendly expression and in this case I like his view direct to your camera.I like too the pose of his hands and the good contrast with the blurred backgound.

bellissimo il ritratto e simpaticissimo l'uomo. Mi piace perche' hai preso dentro anche le mani... cosi sto pensando cosa fa per mestiere... sembra un pittore (tipo quelli imbianchini... o come si dice?) da quello che tiene nelle mani... sembra... In ogni modo mi piace. Ed con la grande maestria lo hai isolato dallo sfondo.

This is a wonderful portrait; you have captured great peace and serenity in his eyes. The detail and color is perfect. As Leo comments, the hands are also an important part of the potrait. The way you place the man against the busy market place, makes a strong contrast with his gentle peace. The lightness of the background removes it from competition while almost giving the man a santly glow. I vastly prefer your version to the WS. Salute, amore, gioia, Pat
