Budapest at sunset & The Parliament Photo

Photographer’s Note

The Eclectic Parliament building, stretching along the Danube Bank, was designed by Imre Steindl. Not only is it an impressive site, so are the dimensions. It is a truly awe-inspiring sight: 268 metres in length and 118 metres wide.
It encloses over 17,000 square metres; its corridors embrace ten inner courtyards. The best of the 19th-century Hungarian applied and fine artists worked on the iron-filigree on its wrought iron gates, on the chandeliers, on the frescoes decorating the facade and the halls, on the statues, and the golden ornamentation.
Building began in 1885, and although in 1896 the parliament session commemorating the Millennium (the 1000th anniversary of the Hungarian Settlement) was held here, the work was only completed in 1904.
The Hungarian Holy Crown and the coronation jewels are exhibited in the Dome Hall. The building is home to the public Parliamentary Library (Országgyűlési Könyvtár). There are guided tours to parts of the complex.

Budapest, capital of Hungary, is also the country's administrative, economic, cultural, and scientific centre. A European city in every sense of the word, in its geographical, intellectual, and economic significance. Just look at these facts that show what a great destination Budapest is, truly a place to spend a couple of days or even weeks here on the banks of the Danube.

- Around 1,000 listed sites from the most significant European artistic periods, including some outstanding Classicist and Hungarian Secession buildings. Indeed, the latter can only be seen here in Hungary.

- World Heritage Sites: The Danube view with the Buda Castle (Budai vár), and the splendid groups of buildings in Pest, as well as Andrássy Avenue (Andrássy út) with its luxurious palaces and the Heroes' Square (Hősök tere) with its ceremonious atmosphere.

- Several hundred museums and galleries, which in addition to artefacts of Hungarian history, art, and natural science, also exhibit numerous works of universal European and world culture.

- 40 theatres, 7 concert halls, and 2 opera houses for those who love the performing arts. The choice multiplies in the summer thanks to the numerous open-air concerts and performances.

- More than a thousand restaurants, cafés, and venues, where the delicacies of Hungarian and international cuisine are accompanied by the finest Hungarian wines.

- 80 mineral and thermal springs, 10 splendid thermal baths, themselves part of the built heritage, and more than 400 bitter water springs.

Parliament building is creates magnificent view in your frame. I like all over city texture with your aerial view in natural colors. Excellent contrasts are between red roof tiles and yellow facades. Mat reflection on Danube is gorgeous too. Congratulations.

Hello George.
Man, this site is enormous...You've also gone to take the picture at the right time of day...the orange glow sets the beautiful stonework on fire. It's lovely how the steps appear to go straight down into the water...is this so? From what vantage point did you take this shot? Only minor complaint would be the scaffolding obscurring part of the building...it takes away from the symmetry. I'm sure this frustrated you a little as well.

màr annyi kèpet làttam a parlamentrol, hogy azt hittem ùjabbat màr senki sem tud ròla produkàlni. Hàt igencsak tèvedtem, mert ez a fèny ès a kompozìciò osszhangjànak eredmènyekènt, ràadàsul mèg nagyon szèp ès hangulatos. Gratulàlok a nagyon szèp ès sikeres produkciòhoz!
Màltà-t illetoen igazad van, kevès kèp van itt ròla, pedig egèszen fotogèn. Jòmagam is tartogatok a tarsolyomban 1-2 règi kèpet ('90-esek, ha jòl emlèxem)azon felul amit feltettem, csak nagyon nem szeretek szkennerezni. Hi George,
A myriad of hues, tones, and exciting graphism in this marvellous shot. The colours resonate with autumn and the clarity of detail on the facades is impressive. I like the way the river winds through the scene and everything seems properly proportioned. You did well to control the strong light and perhaps the exposure could have been reduced slightly, but as it is the photo sings and sizzles. Very fine work, George.

Éljen az ÚJ kép a legismertebb épületünkről. Köszönhetően a fényeknek a Te kompozíciód valóban új - és nagyon szépnek mutatja a délutáni fényben a Parlamentet.
A jegyzet akár a Magyar Idegenforgalim Ismertető is lehetne - de az simétlés sosem árt - van mivel büszkélokednünk.
