The highway stretch between Brest and Minsk is long with few old homes scattered along the beautiful landscape. Belarus is landlocked with no sea access but is full of beautiful landscape. Its land is about 30% forested and agriculture is a main industry.
It was ruled for long times by neighouring empires but since 1990 has become the Republic of Belarus. Most of the country, including its urban structure, was hit hard during world war II. During the Soviet era, its manufacturing industry thrived and the country benefited from a large rebuilding campaign. After its independence in 1990, it continued to struggle economically and to face isolation from most of europe.
I stayed one night in Belarus on my way from Poland to Russia. The living standards were less than neighbouring countries. On the other hand, its people were kind, down to earth, simple and very hospitable. Its population is a little more than 10 million according to 2006 estimates. |

I like the lush greens in this image, and the composition is fine as well. Excellent note too! TFS my friend, Sam
