Photographer’s Note
Location: Yellowstone National Park near Petrified Tree.
This photo is pretty self explanatory. Ten tourist going for a horseback ride in Yellowstone N.P. The third guy from the front looks like he was having so much fun he fell asleep ;)
Side note: Here you can see the hit & miss affect of the 1988 fires which burned 36% of the park. The trees in the background weren't touched, while the closer trees were burnt to a crisp. This area of the park is sometimes referred to as “Black Bear Alley” because of the high number of black bears between Petrified Tree and Tower Falls. I’ve personally seen more bears than I could count in this area (well over 50 sightings in the past 10 years).

Bonjour Ryan!
Avant de lire le titre j'ai cru que c'était un photo de cavalerie. Bonne composition et magnifiques couleurs. J'aime bein les arbres morts au centre.
Félicitations!...

Good composition Ryan. The foreigner cowboys row makes the picture. Even with this telezoom (is it good?) you managed to create an acceptable amount of depth here. I would love to be here. On foot of course, and with my camera. ;)

What a beautiful area! The meadows and trees are almost idyllic. I have not yet had the pleasure of visiting Yellowstone, but maybe I will go soon, especially if I keep seeing pictures like this! Great use of the repeated for of the horses and riders. Well done!

Ten little indians went to the Yellowstone ... there came a fire and nine were left. Nine little indians went to the Yellowstone ... there came a bear and eight were left ...
Another wonderful play between a perfectly nice photography and title. I envy you for all the bear sightings. So far I was able to see a single in the Sierra Nevada (one in 5 years!) and the poor thing was so scared that it ran away.

Hi Ryan
Lucky you having seen so many bears. I wouldn't mind seeing some photos of them. But the horses here are a good replacement. I like how they're lined up which makes a good graphic angle and how the colours of the riders' clothes stand out against the grass. The burnt trees give alot of interest to the scenery.

Just caught up with some of your recent shots. This one is a beauty. Lovely colours and sunlight, the line of horses on an angle at just the right point vertically in the composition. Nice rows of vegetation from bottom to top showing a range of colours. The burnt trees stand out well. A really nice photo in a splendid light.

Andrew
