Photographer’s Note

This man I've seen around Muang Ngoi, which is in the north of Laos. The little village is only accessible by boat, so the village still has a very relaxing charme. Absolutely one of my favourite places in Lao PDR.

Starting from the village one can do nice walks into the nearby valleys. One of my walks led me to a place called 'Valley of the rice paddies'. There is a little restaurant, with no electricity but a view, which is just amazing.

From there I saw this man who tried to span a cable - I guess the purpose for this is to bring the electricity (made by a generator) to a nearby other part of the village.

Well composed, the man appear as a shadow in the rice field. Colors and light are good. The face of the man is a bit too dark comparing to the rest of the picture.

Mirko,
Another fine shot. Unlike others I'm not at all concerned with the "darkness" of the figure - looks fine to me. If I had any comment on how the photo could have been better I think it would be to add a greater depth of field to continue the sharpness of the grasses right across the frame - but this probably wasn't possible, hand held, etc.
