Photographer’s Note
Milford Sound in New Zealand is one of the most stunning places I have ever been. It rains on average 182 days a year (we were there on a sunny day, but it’s apparently equally beautiful in the rain), resulting in a lush rainforest hanging precariously on the jagged cliffs of the fiord. Interestingly, there is such thing as "tree avalanches" there. Because there is no top-soil left on the mountains, the trees stay up by intertwining their roots. If one tree goes down, it can cause a domino effect resulting in hundreds of trees falling into the ocean.
I can’t even describe how beautiful it is…pictures don’t do it justice! I’ve taken a few panoramic though, so I’ll post them to give you an idea.

Shannon this is a beautiful place. The mountains have a different shape than I am used. The water on the foreground and the good colours of this image make it very attractive to enjoy the view. Nice work.

Hello,
I had a great time in Milford Sound, the drive in from Manupuri was equally as impressive, and we had good weather also. I am unsure if I like the large slant/fisheye effect, it is somewhat imposing and dominates as a feature of the image too much. I like the cloud positioning over Mitre peak. This is a good clear image, without interruption from planes or boats (apart from the one in shadow) which were ever-present during my visit. Did you go on a boat tour and visit the underwater observatory? I’d love to hear what you saw.

Hi Shannon,
It is a magical place. You've captured the scene very well ... I like the reflections. Well composed and good contrast. Well done ... tfs.
Cheers,
