Photographer’s Note

Milford Sound in New Zealand is one of the most stunning places I have ever been. It rains on average 182 days a year (we were there on a sunny day, but it’s apparently equally beautiful in the rain), resulting in a lush rainforest hanging precariously on the jagged cliffs of the fiord. Interestingly, there is such thing as "tree avalanches" there. Because there is no top-soil left on the mountains, the trees stay up by intertwining their roots. If one tree goes down, it can cause a domino effect resulting in hundreds of trees falling into the ocean.

I can’t even describe how beautiful it is…pictures don’t do it justice! I’ve taken a few panoramic though, so I’ll post them to give you an idea.
