Photographer’s Note
There is a small village on the southern coast of Sri Lanka where the fisherman there adopt an almost unique way of fishing. They perch on a pole amongst the waves and swell. Although nowaday I think they earn more from the tourists than the fish!

Well you've chosen a scene here that has been captured many a time by others and it's a fair shot, but I find the man to be too dark (needs brghtening up) and the overall sharpness is a bit too low for my liking. It doesn't help that the man is staring at you and I might have cropped off the rocks/seaweed at the bottom of the photo.
I do, however, like the warm blues and greens of the ocean though!
Thanks

This is a very interesting scene Colin. Those poles must be stuck well into the sand. And I laugh at your note - earning more money from touriosts! Quite sad really!

It's really a difficult job. I can not imagine myself sitting there for hours and catching a small fish at the end!! Were you sitting on the other pole? ;)

Hi Colin,
Indeed interesting custom! I like how he is looking at the camera, his pose in the middle of the waves is half funny..
Also, the color of the water is great!
Too bad you did not focus on the man's face, I suppose the effect would have been even more interesting.
All well,
Larissa
