Photographer’s Note
I bumped into this boat while walking along the river, I was charmed by its tough appearance and strong colors, espescially the rust, so I took a few shots. It had a rough and old appearance, but on the other hand, it was really well kept. At first sight I thought it was a tugboat, but then I saw it was equipped with all sorts of machinery, and the back of the boat was so low, that it was in the water, so it looked like a boat, that is used to drag things out of the water.
This one is uncropped, I did not like the overcast sky on the right side, but I wanted 'Rick' to be a part of the picture.
Ran NeatImage, unsharp mask, added a frame.

Great shot, Riniw, I like everything here. Colors are very strong and the black area is a very good BG for the rust. I like the Boats names and the number 50 down there. Cropping is excellent, very good composition.

Very nice composition and a striking colour contrast of black and yellow/orange. I really like the orange anchor (and rust falling off it) against the black ship.

Mooie Rinie,
Leuk eigenlijk. Details waar je vroeger eigelijk nooit aan gedacht aan zult hebben leg je nu vast op de gevoelige plaat. Goede compositie, goede kleuren, met een tegenlicht in de lucht, goede note, goede foto.

I was just about to start with "great cropping" when reading you didn't ... so I'm going to commend you on the in-camera composition you made, Rinie. I understand the desire to keep "Rick", it is a fine element of this shot. The black lines and shapes of the boat make a nice geometrical impact in combination with the yellow elements. And I'm not surprised to see that Yitzhak enjoyed the rust. Good shot, Rinie.

Looking at the thumbnail, i thot the patch of orange was some sort of motif painted on the boat lol!
good contrast of strong colours against a black hull - even though its orange rust :D
liked the way you captured both the names of the 2 boats

The colors are excellent. I like the composition as it allows us to see many diffrent an ddistinct colors and shape. You did crop it correctly. The harsh light at the top left is a good contrast to the dark color of the boat thus it made the boat look even more solid and powerful.

very nice anchor shot of the boat, the rust is clear and the boats main is very nicely taken, well done

Would that conditions were always perfect and every element of every shot always worked... ;-) The bright, washed out background doesn't diminish the excellence of this composition Rinie. The elements that attracted you make the image appealing. The rust is very nice on both the anchor and the bow of the boat where the anchor and its chains movement has worn away the paint protecting the steel beneath. I also love the bright yellow. Great fun.

Hi Rinie. This is a very fine zoomed-in nautic pic. I had the same feeling as Norbert - so, great compo! I love the contrast between the saturated colours and of course Jantar & the Rick add a nice touch. I love a bit of typography in pictures. Great job!

Hi Rinie, what a wonderful main object here - a BOAT, with a lot of rust and lovely contrasting colours! This is a feast for the eyes and just like Norbert, first I was a bit hesitant for the right part but then, after reading your notes, definitely supported your idea of not cropping. ;-)
I think Jantar and Rick go togehter in a fine harmony and this is a very well seen and captured harbour scene!
Have a great Sunday!

Great shot Rinie! I like your composition very, very much here, and this is the original framing uncropped, just excellent! I like the spot on the rusty anchor on the black boat and the inclusion of "Rick" is definitely clever. Colours contrasts are also very nice and attractive here, I like the big black area, and the small yellow/orange areas are very luminous. Finally, the overexposed background doesn't disturb me, it sets boats surroundings and give this shot a less abstract side. Great one for me Rinie !

Very nice. The colors are great. Especially that rusted orange. It looks like a float at the Rose Bowl Parade in California with the smooth but bumpy texture. So it is given the feel of covered in all the seeds and mashed flowers and other organic materials of the parade floats. I like its neighbor, too. Rick has a great blue on it. I like the overcast sky here. It gives it a background but obscures it so we focus on the boats. And it gives Jantar space in front to "move" as we see it. Nicely done.

On this one, I like very much how you framed the 2 names of those 2 boats. Also, i like very much to see the yellow colour of the Jantar machinery and orange anker that sweet very well with Rick's letters. Well seen, Rinie!

Great colors (I like that rust) and nice details. Good composition too, I like where you placed the two names in the frame. Well done!
