Photographer’s Note
Citerne, the heart of Cite Portugaise of El Jadida, is the subterranien vaulted cistern used for water collection.Although it may sound dull it is a remarkable piece of architecture. Orson Welles used the cistern to stage his famous riot scene in Othello (1954) to dramatic effect. With a thin film of water on the floor the 25 pillars and vaults are captured in a startling mirror image. Hope you enjoy the picture.

Hi Denis
This is an excellent capture technically and aesthetically. This must have been a tricky shot in the low light conditions but the tones and colours have come out well, and there's a nice variety of shadows and reflections as well and colour. Looks like a remarkable place.

Hi Denis,
Is really good the shot. You has managed very well the light, and the POV chosen is very useful showing all the pillar, with a subtle reflecion in the water. Amazing effect! Thanks, and best wishes,
Angel.

Hi Denis,
The light falling in thru the opening creates a strange kind of atmosphere, kind of unreal. Maybe because it is so strong and weakens quickly in the dark. It looks like there was some artificial light as well, is that tru?
The details of architecture are well visible and the colors are pretty good under these difficult conditions.
Well done,
Harko

Denis: Tripod? If not you did an admirable job handling the light. ISO, etc? regards, c

Fantastic. I like many things here: the cold colors of the light, the reflections on the floor and how yo managed it to avoid too much overexposure, hidding part of the hole behind a column.
I wanted to know more details of the picture like the ISO, fstop and exposure time.
My impression is that the picture could be a little more defined. Perhaps there is some noise or not enough sharpness.

Hi Denis,
This is a remarkable picture. First because of the building itself, but also because of the way you constructed it, the reflections, the management of the light and the colours. It is very intersting.
Bye,
Yannick

Hi Denis,
This is a splendid photo, and thank you for the tip : my next time in Morocco, I'll go to El Jadida, I did not know that there were such monuments there...
Bravo, TFS,
Cath.
